WHAT TO EXPECT
The Grey Forest Homes team wants to ensure that all the steps in buying your new home are stress-free, from signing your Agreement of Purchase and Sale to selecting those features that will make each unit your own, through the final inspections and into the first years of living in your new home.
Once you have set a firm date for the closing of your home, our customer service representative will contact you to arrange a welcome meeting. It is during this time that you will receive all the information you need to begin the selection process, including the names, addresses and telephone numbers of the experts who will work with you on your kitchen, flooring and lighting details, and more detailed information about what special features or upgrades you wish to have in your home.
Once you have made these decisions, you will sign an Upgrades Authorization form, setting out the upgrades you have chosen through our offices, and the cost of each upgrade, ensuring there will be no surprises to you at closing. You will also receive a final copy of your floor plan, showing the final location of light fixtures, fans, Bell telephone and cable outlet, as well as indicating any special instructions to the tradesmen who will be working on your home.
At any time during the construction, you are welcome to contact our office to arrange a viewing of your unit. We know you will be excited to see the progress of your new home and will do everything possible to allow you to tour your unit at various times, however we must respect the schedule set up for the work to be done in your unit. There are certain times when we will not be able to go in the unit, and a phone call to our office will confirm a date and time that will not interrupt the careful work being done by the professionals we trust to bring together all elements of your home.
In the days prior to your closing date, a professional crew will come in and do a thorough cleaning of your new home, and we will arrange for our customer service representative to take you on a final inspection of the unit. This is known as the Pre-Delivery Inspection, and at that time, you will be taken through your unit from top to bottom and in every room allowing you to confirm that everything has been done to your specifications. During this visit, you will sign the documents required to activate your Tarion Warranty and you will be provided with a copy of your Certificate of Completion, Pre-Delivery Inspection form and the Owner’s Manual that we compile for each community.
At all stages of the process, we want you to feel comfortable staying in touch with us. Please call or email our office whenever you have questions for us.
